About Nico Catricorn
The life of Nico can definitely be described as quite strange compared to most kids. One could even say that it's paranormal. Nico has always been fond of the supernatural and other such things that would have to do with luck and powers beyond our control. A lot of things in her life felt unexplained, much like a mystery, and so she wanted to understand that through the best mediums possible. She took up things like fortune telling, psychiatry, and even contacting entities beyond our own mortal boundaries. Because of her interest which can be seen as kooky and insane to the public eye, she's yet to make any friends despite her upbeat personality. She's even tried starting an occult club at school, but you can probably already guess that the school did not take interest in her aspirations either. No matter how many people have shunned her away for her odd intrigue of the supernatural, she always keeps a smile and happy attitude on her face. She figures that even in a world of unpredictability and hurt, she knows that the one thing she'll always be able to control are her emotions and hope. With Nico constantly fighting to try and get control of fate and destiny from higher beings outside of her control, it's strange to find her in a completely different realm, one of which she's never heard of before. The true challenge for her now is whether or not she'll be able to face the facts and truly try succeed at harnessing the power of the unknown.
Inspirations
Ok this is gonna sound extremely stupid, but would you believe that Nico was based off of Temmie from Undertale? Well not at first. See Nico was supposed to be a kooky but mysterious character, yet after giving it a bit of thought and making her more ecstatic, she became the equivalent of Nyan cat in the group. Her name is supposed to be a reference to cats too and at first she was supposed to be as mysterious as witch's cat, but then I analyzed my cat's in real life (all 21 of them) and decided to instead make her jumpy and friendly and dumb and fun! She became an even better character after that, and I could not believe that by adding that dose of ADHD into her system I gave her way more depth and stuff to do. Aside from that she basically has no other inspirations and I just went completely haywire in making her a little loveable goofball.

Maybe not so fun fact, much like Jesse, Nico wasn't supposed to exist at all! Magic wasn't supposed to exist either in this series as I wanted to stray away from fantasy and actually make a realistic series for once, but a now distant friend wanted to play Subliminarity but refused if there wasn't a magic class (which for the record absolutely stupid reasoning, i'm not pulling punches.) So I made a magic girl based off of those girls who go like "I'm an asparagus" and then boom, Nico! It felt like a drag having to put her in the story version too, but then I just decided to actually have fun with Nico and she became really fun to work with and write too. I regretted wanting to ax her from the final cut, so instead I decided to keep her in the series and I think that was a good call on my part. Her design makes absolutely no sense honestly but I also decided to keep it because I liked her hat and she looks like a 3 year old who dressed themselves, which I think fits with the character. Her gameplay also is a support style protection character, who was more built for getting information from her crystal ball, giving temporary HP and healing. It's a bit all over the place but so is she so I think it still works. Overall, Nico wasn't supposed to exist, and then she became a really fun treat to work on and helped me establish a funny comedic duo between her and Jesse, while also being super adorable!
