About Naomi Raven

Living as the mayor's daughter of the community, Naomi tries her best to live a secluded and quiet life. She's not seen as truly part of the family since she doesn't hold the same mannerisms or connections to the resst of their lineage and with everyone being on her case all the time and pressure always building up by having to deal with others, Naomi prefers to spend her time alone in her small room with only a light, notebook, pen and a jacket to keep her warm. Drawing has been a main outlet for her emotions, as being artistic and envisioning her emotions and what she wants to say as pictures comes much easier top her than actually saying them. Being shut in all the time, she often liked to watch anime and draw the characters she likes as well. One of Naomi's favorites has to be "Ninja X Magical Girl: X Treme", and if you get her started on it then that might be the only time when she doesn't wanna stop talking. She always wanted to try and set up something like an anime club or a mix of that and an art club, but she would rather suffer on her own than go through the trouble of advertising her true self to the rest of the school. However upon entering the alternate realm, she finds herself in a setting where she has to work with others to survive, and she can't hide or pretend like her problems aren't there. Is the challenge for Naomi going to be working with others to live, or is it going to be fighting her own demons to even think of that as a reality?

Naomi Game Guide

Inspirations

Honestly, I didn't really base Naomi off of many characters. The only ones that I can think of are Pochi from Worlds End Club and I think there was some anime girl online that I took some parts of her design, but honestly, that's about it. I mainly came up with her on my own when thinking of a more shut-in and reclusive character, and based her off of how nervous I've seen other people act. It's no secret that I've been extroverted for most of my life, so when writing Naomi, I wanted to tap into that audience that likes to keep to themselves. I can relate to them in some part but her apathy and lack of motivation also show her faith that she has not only in others but herself. She encompasses a lot of negative emotions, but when putting pen to paper, those negative emotions become true, raw, and visceral art.

Behind the Scenes

If it hasn't been noticed, then good I think i'm doing well at the design portion. Naomi herself seems like a background character much like Jack is, but instead of being like Jack and being more sincere with being basic, Naomi is a character that purposefully tries to blend in to be avoided in the first place. She's a character that wants to stroll through life unnoticed and unbothered so she could work on her craft, and the outfit with the oversized jacket truly sells this well. On top of this, her character seems like an asshole on the outside and someone you would want to completely avoid, which adds more into the complexity of her charater when you see on the inside that she's very creative yet reclusive. Her outside self does a good job at driving people away so she can be by herself. She blends into the shadows and is forgettable on purpose, which is pretty funny when you realize that in the game version of Subliminarity that she's an assassin whos u close and personal while steaalthing around. On top of this, her being a character that tackles depression in the more silent suffering by yourself type helps the reader relate very well to her, and I do to. Constantly i've suffered in silence much like Naomi does, but sometimes it's hard to speak up when you don't even want to be talked to at all. When working on her I didn't really analyze myself, but made sure to take note and open up the perspective of how depression and anxiety can truly eat away at a person. Overall she deals with a lot of issues, but with how internal it can be, it not only makes her relatable but also a tragdedy in itself.
